PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To handle a note or check according to a recipient account and contents of the issuer by displaying an operation guidance and performing a transaction process on the basis of the contents of at least a payment place and a payer, or the recipient account. SOLUTION: A main control part 1156 of a note and check control part 114 controls respective parts on condition that the depositing of the note or check is selected by a customer and a start instruction is given by a process part. The main control part 1156 at the time of automatically handling the note or check checks an issue source (payment place) and recipient account and make handling conditions different by disabling automatic transaction according to the issue source or allowing the transaction, but making the reception permissible period an charge different. Therefore, a guide display and a transaction process based upon the recipient account and issue source are carried out to provide different customer services or convenience. The note or check of another bank which needs to be passed through a check exchange place is returned to the customer or the customer is guided to a counter after the return for counter handling.
