PURPOSE: An air exhaust grille rotation system is provided to extend air flow range in vertical direction by arranging the indoor unit of air conditioner to be separated into upper and lower portions. CONSTITUTION: A system comprises a twisting member(260) interposed between an upper cabinet(240) having at a front surface thereof an air exhaust grille(204) and a lower cabinet(280) having at a front surface thereof an air inlet grille(202), an X-shaped link member(250) for connecting diagonally opposed corners of the bottom surface of the lower cabinet, and a step motor(270) having a rotational shaft(275) to be coupled with the X-shaped link member. The twisting member is made of flexible material so as to allow the upper cabinet to rotate with respect to the lower cabinet. The upper end of the twisting member is coupled to the lower end of the upper cabinet, while the lower end of the twisting member is coupled to the top of the lower cabinet. When the step motor is driven, the upper cabinet rotates with respect to the lower cabinet, by the twist of the twisting member.
