PURPOSE:To thicken line images at high speed and to beautifully finish the corner parts of the thickened line images. CONSTITUTION:A thickening shape table is prepared for showing the shape of a thickened area to one arbitrary picture element at a line image part as a length in a main scanning direction corresponding to a distance from the above-mentioned arbitrary picture element in a sub scanning direction. First of all, a thickening area R1 for each main scanning line to each picture element at the line image part is calculated for a line image part Q1 contained in image data at an n-th line by referring to the thickening shape table. Further, a thickening area R2 for each main scanning line to each picture element at the line image part is calculated for a line image part Q2 contained in image data at an (n+1)th line by referring to the thickening shape table and next, a thickening area K is decided by ORing the thickening areas R1 and R2 for the respective main scanning lines. |
