PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject sheet-like material by forming a core member using specific fibers as a nonwoven fabric and applying a water repellent onto the surface of the core member so as to limit contact of the core member with irrigated water or the moisture in soil and significantly delay the time of biodegradation of the core material. SOLUTION: This agricultural/horticultural sheet-like material is obtained by forming a core member 2 using biodegradable plastic fibers as a nonwoven fabric and applying a water repellent 3 onto the surface of the core member 2. Another version of this sheet-like material is to form a core material through perforating a biodegradable plastic sheet-like film and apply a water repellent onto the surface of the core member, wherein the core material can be formed of a polylactic acid-based biodegradable plastic.
