PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce friction between a brake lock and a butting part of a brake release plate after a brake is released and smoothly rotate a tape reel, by interposing a sliding sheet member between the brake lock and the butt part of the brake release plate. SOLUTION: The tape cartridge has a tape reel rotatably stored in a body case consisting of an upper and a lower cases 1 and 2. An engagement thread part 35 of a hub inner face of the tape reel is engaged with a brake thread part 51 at the side of a lower face of a brake lock 5, thereby preventing an unnecessary rotation of the tape reel when not in use. When the tape cartridge is loaded in an apparatus, a brake release member of the apparatus presses up a brake release plate 9 via a leg part, thereby raising the brake lock 5 to enable the tape reel to rotate. A slip sheet member 28 of a superior slide characteristic is attached to a recessed part of the brake release plate 9 which butts with a projection 53 of the brake lock 5, thereby suppressing a sliding friction between the projection 53 and the recessed part.
