PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a transmitter to output a plurality of copies of information on resources usable for the reception of a receiver and to appropriately control the number of outputted copies, when the transmitter is informed of the information. SOLUTION: A transmitter receives the information on the resources usable for the present reception of a receiver, such as the remaining quantity of recording paper detected by means of a recordable number-of-sheets detecting circuit 28, the remaining memory capacity usable for reception of a memory circuit 18, etc., or the presence/ absence of a plurality-of-copy outputting function decided based on the information. Then the transmitter decides whether a plurality of copies are to be outputted and designates the number of copies outputted to the receiver. When the output of the designated number of copies cannot be made due to notification from the receiver, the transmitter displays it by means of a display circuit 26, and if required, forcibly designates the output of the plurality of copies according to the response from an operator. When the designation of the output of the plurality of copies is impossible, the transmitter outputs the plurality of copies by making a plurality of communications.
