PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device in which a switch detecting an inner periphery of a disk can be omitted without requiring a disk storing detecting means detecting the existence of a disk, the degree of freedom of design, the easiness of assembly, and the reliability can be improved, and which is inexpensive. SOLUTION: In this device, when loading of a disk 1 is finished, an optical pickup 2 is transported in the direction of an inner periphery of the disk 1 by a thread motor 9 irradiating with a laser beam 3a. The laser beam 3 is reflected by an optical reflecting means 20, when the reflected light is received by the optical pickup 2, as reflected light quantity exceeds a threshold value, transportation of the optical pickup 2 in the direction of an inner periphery of the disk 1 is stopped, operation detecting an inner periphery of a disk is finished.
