<p>A method for displaying an image which can include a text or graphic message on a display (208a) driven by an electronic device that includes a graphical user interface (200), including the steps of storing the image at an electronic device, displaying the image (204a) in relation to a cursor icon (202a) of the graphical user interface (GUI) (200), and moving the image (204a) as the cursor icon (202a) moves in response to user commanded movement of the cursor icon (202a) so that the image (204a) stays in relation to the cursor icon (202a), is described. The method can further include a step of extinguishing the image when the image could distract the user (202c). In an embodiment, the method further includes steps of repositioning, reorienting, dissolving away, fading, or vanishing from, display of the image for a period of time when the image or cursor icon (202c) is placed over an on-screen area which can include an input field, an edge of the display, a hyperlink text field, a hyperlink image, a program icon, or a program button. The image (204a) can be presented in the form of a distinctive shape, such as, e.g., a stop sign, another geometric polygon, a corporate logo, a product logo, or a trademarked shape.</p> |
