PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input-output device capable of high density reading without increase in costs. SOLUTION: In this image input-output device which inputs and outputs an original image such as a sentence by a CCD line sensor 27 through a lens 30, a parallel flat glass 38 is arranged between the lens 30 and the sensor 27, and an image is read by utilizing the refraction action of the glass 38. The parallel flat glass is turnable against a shaft that is parallel with the CCD light receiving face of the CCD line sensor and is also perpendicular to a line (horizontal scanning) direction and is optically large enough to cover the CCD light receiving pixels. The parallel flat glass is desirably turned by an electromagnetic driving means.
