The manufacturing method has individual components (1,2) of the glow plug which are made of different materials shaped via a cold forming process, before fitting together and combining via a warm pressing process. The components are fitted together within a mould sleeve (10) provided with an axially displaced die (11,12) at either end, inserted in a corresponding bore of an insulation plate (15) for transfer to a corresponding bore (20) of a steel carrier plate (27) which is heated and compressed between 2 heated press plates (17). An Independent claim for a press device for manufacture of a glow plug ceramic body is also included.
