PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a mesoporous silicate having a large specific surface area and excellent in pressure resistance. SOLUTION: The pH of a reactional solution is regulated stepwise from pH 12-13 in the initial period of a reaction to ph<=7 when heating a mixed solution of a solution containing a silicon compound prepared from a colloidal silica or a water glass with a solution containing an alkyltrimethylammonium salt (having an 8-18C alkyl group) as an organic template and carrying out a hydrothermal synthesis.
