PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which has a recording length over 90 minutes even when used for digital video recording and has excellent characteristics as a magnetic tape for digital video recording. SOLUTION: In a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium of <=7μm total thickness in which at least a magnetic layer is provided on a nonmagnetic supporting body, tape width is >=6.5 mm, total length of the tape is >=180 m and the nonmagnetic supporting body is made of a kind selected from among aromatic polyamides or polyethylene naphthalates. The magnetic recording medium is used for magnetic recording of a system in which a truck is divided into two or more recording sectors of video signals.
