PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve display quality by eliminating dispersion in display density between respective picture elements. SOLUTION: As shown in Figs. (b) and (c), charged electrophoretic particles 5 being deposited on an attraction board 22 (A) are transferred to a substrate 1b forming the display device. By this, in the manufactured display device P1, an equal quantity of the charged electrophoretic particles 5 is distributed to each of picture elements. By applying a voltage of appropriate polarity to electrodes 6, 7, the charged electrophoetic particles 5 are moved separately at each of the picture elements so as to display an optical image. Because the equal quantity of the charged electrophoretic particles 5 is distributed to each of the picture elements, dispersion in display density between the respective picture elements can be eliminated.
