PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data generation device for reproduction-only laminated waveguide hologram memory capable of obtaining wave fronts of light in the waveguide in each layer without needing vast calculation. SOLUTION: In this data generation device, an imaging lens 5.9 for forming the image on a screen 5.7 including image information at an imaging position 5.11 by objective light 5.3 made incident through a semiconductor laser 5.1, a cubic half mirror 5.2, dielectric reflection mirror 5.4, a beam expander 5.5 and condenser lens 5.6, a half mirror 5.8 which introduces referential light 5.18 coherent with the objective light 5.3 into the imaging lens 5.9, a microscope 5.12 and a CCD 5.13 are used to measure the amplitude distribution and phase distribution of the objective light 5.3 on a measuring plane 5.10 apart at a specified distance from the imaging position 5.11. Thus, the amplitude distribution and phase distribution of the objective light 5.3 to be induced by the waveguide of each layer in the laminated waveguide are determined.
