The invention relates to a ballpoint for a writing instrument, comprising a body (10) whose back end comprises a bore (11) for linking to an ink supply and whose front end comprises a housing (12) for receiving a ball (13). The bore (11) is linked to the housing (12) by a capillary hole (14), so that the ink can be delivered to the surface of the ball (13). Ink supply channels or angled grooves (15) can be provided in any suitable form. The housing (12) that receives the ball is shaped by a first bore (16), which has a large diameter and is situated at the front end of the nib, followed by a second bore (17), which has a smaller diameter and into which the capillary hole (14) opens. The diameter of the second bore (17) corresponds approximately to that of the ball (13) and extends at least as far as the equator (18) of the ball (13). The ball that is accommodated in this bore and rests on its seat (19) is hereby guided in the nib without play.
