PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road traffic information which can concretely and easily display the traffic jam situations at a low cost by sensing the vehicles traveling on the roads and generating the traffic jam situation data from the vehicle sense information. SOLUTION: An image pickup device 1 generates the number-of-vehicle information, the speed information, the traffic backup length information and the vehicle type information as the sense information from the photographed road images. A central management center 2 generates the image data shown in a virtual form as the traffic jam situation data from the sense information received from the device 1. Then the virtual image data are superimposed on the road image data for generating a traffic jam situation image (a virtual stereoscopic static image). The data on the virtual stereoscopic static image are transmitted to a communication device 3 that is installed along a road at a position near a photographed intersection. The data on the virtual stereoscopic static image which are outputted from the device 3 are received by a car navigation system 4 mounted on a vehicle traveling on a road and displayed there.
