PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain steel small in dross height and good in cutting precision at the time of laser cutting by allowing it to have a compsn. contg. specified amounts of C, Mn, Ni, Cr, P and S, in which the content of Si is controlled to a specified range, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. SOLUTION: This steel for laser cutting has a compsn. contg., by weight, <=0.08% C, <=2.00% Mn, 7.00 to 10.50% Ni, 16.00 to 20.00% Cr, <=0.045% P and <=0.03% S, in which the content of Si is controlled to 0.5 to 2.0%, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which, if required, one or more kinds among Mo, Cu, Tx and Nb are contained by <=5.00% in total in the balance. Furthermore, in the steel, preferably, the size of the crystal grains is controlled to No.>=5 by the crystal grain number prescribed in JISG0552, moreover, the maximum surface roughness Rmax is controlled to <=50 μm, and the thickness is controlled to <=20 mm. |
