PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability by moving a system to a screen for setting the position of the reading object area of a next reading object item when the setting completion of the position of the reading object area in one reading object item is recognized. SOLUTION: The list of areas being reading objects in a system is stored in a reading object area list storage memory 4. A reading object area position designation part 6 uses the pointing device of a mouse on picture data of a slip displayed in a picture data display part 3 and designates the position of the reading object area. The list of the reading object items of the medium of the slip is previously registered in the memory and a system moves to a screen for setting the position of the reading object area of the next reading object item and an operator is guided when the setting completion of the position of the reading object area of one reading object item is recognized. Thus, an operator is not necessary to make the correspondence of a reading object item name, an attribute and the position like a conventional case, and so operability improves.
