PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the collision preventing device of a video camera for surely informing a photographer of the existence of a surrounding obstacle without making any adverse influence on a photographic picture. SOLUTION: In the collision preventing device of a video camera, the picture of a subject photographed by an optical lens or a charge coupled element is converted into a picture signal, and recorded in a recording medium. This device is provided with one or plural sensors 3, 4, and 5 faced to an arbitrary direction for detecting the presence or absence of an obstacle in an arbitrary direction, a control part 6 for receiving a detection signal outputted when the obstacle is detected, and for outputting an information commanding signal, and a vibrator 7 for receiving the information commanding signal, and for informing a photographer of the existence of the obstacle according to vibration.
