The invention relates to an accessory serving to protect the flame from the effects of the wind and to keep the lighter light without having to manually actuate the push button of the valve mechanism. Said accessory is embodied in the form of a tubular casing (4) fitted with an inner location in which the lighter (1) is tightly inserted, said casing being oversized in longitudinal direction with the purpose of defining a large section (5) facing the flame output area and serving as a protector for the latter. A wide lateral notch (7) for manual access to the wheel (3) of the lighting mechanism of the lighter is also defined in said top section (5), said notch (7) ending on a transversal bridge (9) which in turn acts upon the push button (2) of the lighting mechanism when the lighter (1) is displaced upward inside said casing (4).
