PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a carbon crucible for single crystal pulling-up, which has no fitting part, by impregnating or coating a carbon fiber fabric with a thermosetting resin to form a carbon fiber base material prepreg, subjecting the prepreg to lamination forming into a laminated body having a prescribed shape for forming an intended formed product, subjecting the laminated body to compression forming with a forming mold into a formed body, curing the formed body in the forming mold, withdrawing the cured formed body from the mold, and heating the withdrawn formed body in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. SOLUTION: This production process above described, more specifically, involves: cutting the prepreg into prepreg sheets each having a prescribed shape for forming an intended formed product; subjecting a required number of the prepreg sheets to lamination forming into a laminated body; then subjecting the laminated body to compression forming at 130 to 190 deg.C under a 30 to 300 kg/cm2 pressure with a forming mold into a formed body, curing the formed body in the forming mold; withdrawing the cured formed body from the forming mold; and subjecting the withdrawn formed body to heating treatment. In the production process, as the prepreg, that having a 10 to 60% thermosetting resin content is normally used. Also, as the carbon fiber fabric, any of those made of polyacrylonitrile-based carbon fiber, pitch-based carbon fiber, etc., respectively, can be used. Further, as the thermosetting resin used, a thermosetting resin having a >=45% high carbonization ratio, such as phenolic resin or furan-based resin, is preferred. |
