The detector comprises films (4) that emit particles by interaction with ionizing radiation, semi-conductor layers (6) that alternate with said films and which can be ionized by the particles, and groups of conductor strips (22) which are in contact with the layers. Means (26) for creating an electric field enable the current carriers produced in the layers by interaction with the particles to be collected via the strips. A layer and corresponding strips are, for example, formed on each film and the films are assembled. The invention can, for example, be applied to radiography and enables high efficiency in terms of x-ray detection, combined with high spatial resolution.
