PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for analyzing an image texture information are provided to analyze a direction and a periodicity of the texture in detail. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for analyzing an image texture information comprises a filtering portion(20) for filtering a still image formed of pixels of M rows X N columns with a plurality filters each of which has a different filter coefficient, a X-axis projecting portion(22) for calculating a gray level average value of M numbers of pixels forming the rows in each filtered image, and a Y-axis projecting portion for calculating a gray level average value of N numbers of pixels forming the columns. A method for analyzing an image texture information comprises steps of reading the still image, filtering the still image with the filters to output a plurality of images, calculating each gray level average value for the X and Y-axes, generating graphs showing a change in the gray level average value for each image, storing the graphs, and analyzing the texture information using the graphs.
