PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve noise problems by attenuating vibration of a cam ring, and the pulsation of fluid at the discharge side of this variable displacement pump, and to simplify the structure as a whole so as to for it into a compact one. SOLUTION: A first and a second fluid compression chamber 43 and 44 are provided for both the sides of a cam ring 27, capable of being rocked within a pump body 21. A plunger damper 64 internally provided with an energizing means energizing the cam ring to the direction such that a pump capacity will be maximum, is provided for the second fluid pressure chamber to let the damper abut against the side part of the cam ring. A variable metering throttle 69 formed out of a metering throttle 60, is provided for a position to be opened/closed by the sliding action of the plunger damper, while being partitioned off the second fluid chamber. A fixed metering throttle 68 formed out of the metering throttle, is provided for a position capable of approaching the variable metering throttle and is incapable of being opened/closed by the sliding action of the plunger damper. A relief valve is attached to the spool of a spool valve which acts as a control valve.
