PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture pellets having a low possibility of producing molding defects and provide a method therefor. SOLUTION: Pellets are composed of a thermoplastic resin in which a resin powder content is 5000 ppm or less, the ratio of containing adhesion type pellets is 10 pieces or less in the 500 g pellets and the weight ratio of a water content per unit weight of one pellet is 1 wt.% or less. In a pellet manufacturing method, for instance, a strand discharged out of a molding die is cooled by using a cooling water and then the strand is cut to form the pellets, and a treated water having passed through a filter is used as the cooling water for cooking the strand, and the cooling water in the shower state is sprayed to the strand of molten state to control the upper limit of the strand temperature when cutting is carried out to the glass transition temperature -20 deg.C of thermoplastic resin, and after being pelletized, a dehydration process of removing the eater content in the pellets and a process of removing adhesion type pellets are carried out to manufacture the pellets suitably.
