The coiling shaft (12) for the sunscreen awning etc (14) is coupled to the storage spring (27) through a transmission gear (34) and the spring (27) consists of a number of elements (32) clamped in between spring shaft (28) and fixed clamping point (30). Each clamping point (30) is on a fixed housing (30) and the spring elements (32) come in leaf, coil or torsion form. The gear (34) ratio is such as to rotate the spring shaft (28) slower than the coiling shaft (12). The gearing stages comprize gearwheel (24) on the coiling shaft (12) and gearwheel (26) on the spring shaft (28) forming a multi-stage gear system.
