The drive system for a circular comb, at a comber, has a universal joint shaft (9) between the main shaft and the circular comb. It has two universal joints (10,11), in succession. The gearing structure has a reduction ratio i1 at the main shaft = wH/wG = 2 and at the circular comb of i2 = wG/wRK = 0.5 The drive input and output ends of the universal joint shaft (9) lie on one plane. The fork planes of both inner joint forks (10.1,11.1) rotate against each other by a rotary angle ( psi ) of preferably 90 deg which can be varied. At least one universal joint (10,11) has a bending angle ( beta ) which is not equal to 0 deg . The universal joints (10,11) have different bending angles ( beta 10, beta 11).
