The flotsam (6) is collected by a pref. moveable appliance, and is thrown onto and spread over a suitable area (4) in front of a dike (1). The specific weight is increased before the throwing stage, e.g. by weighting, compression, etc. The flotsam is pneumatically pressure-charged, and the ejection jet is stiffened using an air jacket jet. An off-shore wind is used for the ejection. The device has a unit to increase the specific weight of the flotsam, and an ejection unit with guide track to feed the collected material to an ejector. The air jacket is generated by a ring nozzle. The track may pref. be a conveyor belt to feed the collected material from a collector to a processor.
