PURPOSE: A map database device is provided to enhance that correspondence information of the nodes of the respective levels in the case where the lower level is considered from the upper level is provided as inter-level correspondence data expressing the relation between the road map data of the upper level having a small scale and the road map data of the lower level having a large scale. CONSTITUTION: In a map database device in which roads are expressed by using a plurality of data related to a link having nodes at a leading end and a trailing end, while data related to a plurality of links separately provided for maps of different scales are stored as road map data from an upper level having the smallest scale to a lower level having the largest scale, and in which M units of detailed information in M units of subregions formed by plurally dividing one map region of the upper level are stored as the road map data of one map region of the lower level.
