PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input device for audio unit, which can easily input a previously registered character and the like and which is abundant in operability. SOLUTION: A character input device for audio unit, which has an input device that can simultaneously record character data in a storage medium recording a sound signal, is provided with a non-volatile memory to which a character string can be registered, a micro computer 2 selecting the character string registered in the non-volatile memory 4 and a display device 3. The input device 1 can record the character string called from the non-volatile memory 4 by the micro computer 2 or character data containing the called character string in the storage medium.
