PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression molding apparatus designed to prevent a superheating of a mold used in the compression molding of cut tobacco layer prior to molding tobacco rods. SOLUTION: This compression molding apparatus for a cigarette production machine is equipped with a number of heat-releasing fins 56 provided inside the end portion downstream of a tongue 20 as a mold and constituting an heat- releasing area 54, an air cooler 50 blowing cooling air toward these fins 54, and an ejecting heat 36 to which cooling air from the air cooler 50 is guided and which ejects it toward the heat-radiating area 54.
