PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device suitable for storing an optical fiber cord, from which the optical cord can be easily pulled out. SOLUTION: This drum has a cylindrical barrel part 11 and side panels 12, 12, and a winding barrel 1 on which an optical fiber cord 21 is wound. The winding barrel 1 is held on a shaft member 31 so that it can be rotated around the axis X of the winding barrel 1. A rotary connector 4 is adapted to be rotated, relative to the winding barrel 1, coaxial with the latter, and the optical fiber cord 21 is connected to the rotary connector 4. A rotary part of the rotary connector 4 is fixed by a restraining part 6 in order to prevent the rotary part from rotating in association with the rotation of the winding barrel 1. A resisting member for applying a resistance against the rotation of the winding barrel 1, is arranged in a bearing part 13 of the winding barrel. With this arrangement, a worker can pay out or wind the optical fiber cord by gripping the winding barrel.
