PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and safe cosmetic composition. SOLUTION: A melanogenesis suppressing agent, an active oxygen scavenger, a lipid peroxide formation suppressing agent, an antiallergic agent, a histamine isolation suppressing agent, an anticomplement activation agent and a cosmetic composition are produced by including an extract of one or more vegetables selected from Crataegus oxyacantha and Potentilla tormentilla. The agents have melanogenesis suppressing action, active oxygen scavenging action, lipid peroxide formation suppressing action, antiallergic action, histamine isolation suppressing action and anticomplement activation action as well as cosmetic action to decrease blotches and freckles and give fair skin. These agents are effective also for the improvement of dermatic inflammation diseases (e.g. rubefaction, edema and eczema), roughened skin and xeroderma and the impartment of the skin with gloss and springiness. The technique can be applied to foods and drinks in general. |
