The installation comprises a substantially horizontal thermolytic furnace (20) in which a cart (12) for receiving waste that is to be treated by thermolysis circulates; transport means (40) enabling each cart that is loaded with waste to be brought to a tight access door (21) of the furnace in an inert atmosphere in order to recover said waste in an inert atmosphere once the waste has been processed at said door or at a tight door (23) of the furnace; means (45) for transferring the transport means (40) from each cart to the furnace (20) and vice-versa, in addition to means (22,24) for establishing a tight connection between the transport means (40) and the furnace (20) when the transport means (40) are transferred from each cart to the furnace (20) and vice-versa.
