The manhole cover (10) has a lower construction (14) of shaft neck and shaft cover plate, and a support ring (13) for an adjustable frame (30). The lower construction, and at least the support ring permanently connected to it, are a modular unit, which is easy to install. The support ring has an anchor part (15), which is permanently anchored in the material of the lower construction, e.g. it is installed when casting a concrete lower construction. The anchor part is formed by a flange (16) projecting outwards at right angles form the ring.
