A split type conjugate fiber having at least two types A and B of thermoplastic synthetic fiber which are alternately arranged in the fiber cross section thereof, characterized in that (1) component A is continuously formed along the direction of the fiber axis thereof and, with respect to B component, a part thereof is completely spliced with component A along the direction of the fiber axis thereof and another part thereof is spliced in a small area with component A and/or another part thereof is not spliced with component A, the above parts being randomly mixed; (2) in the cross section thereof, respective components are alternately adjacent to one another in the major axis direction, and the cross section has a winding, bending or flat shape and a ratio of a major axis L to a minor axis W of 3 to 20; (3) it is a polyolefin split type conjugate fiber wherein in the cross section thereof respective components are alternately arranged in a radial manner, and it has a hollow portion in the central part thereof, and the ratio of an average length W of fiber circumference arcs to an average thickness L from the hollow portion to the fiber circumference in a resin component is 0.25 to 2.5, or (4) in the cross section thereof respective components are arranged alternately, it has a hollow portion in the central part thereof, and by an external force said cross section is deformed to a flat form and a part of each component is separated.
|
