PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming element for manufacturing a lithographic printing plate having reduced slipperiness of the plate by improving dimensional stability. SOLUTION: The image forming element comprises a surface to be differentiated into a lipophilic area and an oleophobic area when an image is formed on a surface of a flexible support, and a layer or a package of the layer on a second surface opposite to the first surface of the support. The layer or the package of the layer on a back surface has a ratio of mean roughness at square value pairμm of gravimetric water absorption(WA) in g/m2 larger than 20.
