The invention concerns a method for preparing coaxial cables by cutting the length of the external conductor, of the dielectric and of the central conductor, the cable being first cut perpendicularly to its axis, and then treated with a tool provided with a blade (3) for shearing the sheath, while a guide (7) is supported on the central conductor and under the action of a positioning and stop device (8), (9), (10), one or several additional blade(s) (5), respectively (14), (15), cut(s) the external conductor, the dielectric and the internal conductor, and optionally the external conductor is treated with a flaring tool. The invention also concerns a tool designed for said method for preparing coaxial cables, comprising a blade (3) for shearing the sheath; a guide (7) capable of being supported on the central conductor; a positioning and stop device (8), (9), (10); one or several additional blade(s) (5), respectively (14), (15), for cutting the external conductor, the dielectric and the internal conductor.
