PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous insertion between different types of connectors by providing an insertion error preventing projection for preventing the insertion error into the different type of connector for at least one of a pair of optical connectors. SOLUTION: A make optical connector 1 has, on its one side, two insertion error preventing projections 38 for preventing insertion into a different type of connector. These insertion error preventing projections 38 respectively extend from a side surface of the male optical connector 1 to a front side of a connector body, namely an engagement side with a female-side connector, a counterpart connector. The insertion error preventing projections 38 have a just L-shape from a lateral view. The insertion error preventing projections 38 function only when it is intended to be connected with a different type of connector, and does not function when it is connected with the same type of connector. When it is connected with the same type of connector, namely the female-side connector, the insertion error preventing projections 38 can contain a part of the outside of the female-side connector in a gap formed between itself 38 and the body portion.
