Metal complexes of heteroatom substituted cyclopentadienyl-containing ligands pictured above are suitable as catalysts for olefin polymerization and may be used to produce high molecular weight polymers. M is Ti, Zr or Hf; j is 1 or 2; when j is 1, T is O or S; when j is 2, T is N or P; each RB is independently selected from an optionally substituted group having from 1-80 non-hydrogen atoms which is hydrocarbyl, hydrocarylsilyl, halo-substituted hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbylsilylhydrocarbyl, hydrocarbyloxy-substituted hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbylamino-substituted hydrocarbyl; or two RB groups are linked to form a ring or fused rings system; RA, RW, RX, RY and RZ are independently hydrogen or a group have from 1-80 non-hydrogen atoms which is hydrocarbyl, hydrocarylsilyl, halo-substituted hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbylsilylhydrocarbyl, hydrocarbyloxy-substituted hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbylamino-substituted hydrocarbyl, or two or more of RA, RB, RW, RX, RY and RZ groups are linked to form a ring or fused rings system; Z is a divalent moiety covalently bound to Cp and M via s-bonds, where Z is boron, a group 14 element, nitrogen phosphorous, sulphur or oxygen; X is an anionic or dianionic ligand group have up to 60 atoms exclusive of the class of ligands that are cyclic, delocalised, pi-bound ligands; X' is independently a neutral lewis base ligating compound having up to 20 atoms; when X is anionic p is 0, 1 or 2 and is two less that the formal oxidation state of M; when X is a dianionic group, p is 1; and q is 0 or 1.
