Method and device for welding two circular sections using cylindrical flanges for the fabrication of storage tanks, notably of stainless steel for storage and/or fermentation of liquids

A method for welding, with some cylindrical flanges, two round sections of a storage tank consists of:- a) placing the first section (C) so that its axis of revolution (3) may be vertical and its neck (2) may be in a higher position of revolution; b) a rigid kneed arm (B) carrying a welding torch (S) is introduced into the first section (C) by its end with the smallest section and the arm is pivoted to feed the torch with respect to the neck of the section; c) the other section (C') is placed in the assembly position; d) the weld is realised by maintaining the torch fixed and by rotating the sections themselves during the welding operation; and e) the torch is extracted from the first section by pivoting the arm when the welding is completed and the welded section are disengaged. The welding device used to put this method into service is also claimed.
