PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the convenience for a network manager or a serviceperson by notifying a user of NIC setting completion with an electronic mail means such as E-mail. SOLUTION: When the setting of a specific NIC from a utility is completed (S1), whether or not set completion notification should the performed is checked (S2). When the system setting is such that completion notification is not to be performed, this processing is finished without performing subsequent completion notification. Thus, unneeded network traffic can be reduced by not performing notification when the completion notification is not required. When the completion notification is performed, set contents are reacquired from an NIC completing setting (S3) and compared with contents to be set which are stored in the utility (S4). When they coincide, they are regarded as correctly set and processing proceeds to the next step (S5). When they do not coincided, some error is regarded as occurred and notification processing is not performed (S6).
