PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the document handling ability by temporarily stopping a separate medium sheet picked up from a sheets stack of an input tray and pushed to an operation station while partially pushing the medium sheets into an output tray or reversing the traveling direction of the medium sheets. SOLUTION: A following medium sheet 32 picked up from an input tray 22 is pushed to an operation station 12, and a part of the following sheet 32 is put into an output tray 24 so as to be engaged with a former medium sheet 34 positioned at a static position inside of the output tray 24. Continuously, the following medium sheet 32 is pushed in a first direction from the operation station while reversing the traveling direction thereof till the former medium sheet 34 is pushed upward from the output tray 24, or the following medium sheet 32 is temporarily stopped and the former medium sheet 34 is fallen for return to the static position, and the following medium sheet 32 can be thereby perfectly fed into the output tray 24.
