PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyester resins capable of improving the balance of water resistance and weatherability of various types of coating materials when incorporated thereinto. SOLUTION: A polyester resin can be obtained by polycondensing 100 pts. cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid, 14.3 pts. 2-ethyl-2-butyl-1,3-propanediol, and 164.3 pts. bisphenol A ethylene oxide adduct, and has a number average molecular weight of 13,660, a hydroxyl number of 7.2 mgKOH/g, and a glass transition temperature of 53 deg.C.
