PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the electrophotographic photoreceptor stable in characteristics in repeated uses without restriction of charging method and deterioration of characteristics and small in drop of mechanical strength by using a polyarylate resin having specified spirobichroman structures for a resin for forming a photosensitive layer. SOLUTION: The photosensitive layer contains the poly arylate resin having the spirobichroman structures each represented by the formula in which each of R1-R4 is an H or halogen atom, such as F, Cl, Br, or I atom, or a 1-3C alkyl group; each of R5-R8 is an H or halogen atom or a 1-5C alkyl or aryl, such as phenyl or naphthyl group, or 1-5C alkoxy, such as methoxy, ethoxy, or propoxy group.
