<p>PURPOSE:To suppress the cell delay due to multiplexing. CONSTITUTION:When three cells 11, 21, and 31 simultaneously arrive from plural input lines 1 to 3, these cells are selected one by one and are multiplexed. When the first cell is selected, the probability that the next cell arrives within (the peak interval)+(one cell unit time) is obtained for each of three input lines 1 to 3 by a preferential control function part 120. The cell 31 of the input line 3 for which the probability is highest is first multiplexed. Next, the second cell 11 is selected from input lines 1 and 2 other than the input line 3 whose cell is first multiplexed. Finally, the cell 21 of the input line 2 other than input lines 1 and 3 whose cells are first and secondly multiplexed is multiplexed. Thus, cells 31, 11, and 21 are multiplexed in accordance with the order of probabilities of cell arrival.</p> |
