<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an effect whatever the circumstances are without deteriorating visibility by providing an illuminator with a filter radiating only right-handed or left-handed circularly polarized light and a light receiving device with a filter transmitting only the circularly polarized light whose rotating direction is the same as the circularly polarized light filter of the illuminator. SOLUTION: The illuminator 2 mounted on an automobile 1 is equipped with the circularly polarized light filter 4 so as to radiate the right-handed circularly polarized light. The light reflected by a body to be observed 8 is made incident on the light receiving device 3 equipped with a circularly polarized filter 5. An image caught by the device 3 is shown to a driver 7 through a display device 6. At such a time, by using an infrared lamp as the radiating device 2 and an infrared camera as the device 3, a clear image is obtained even when it is foggy. Besides, if the radiated light is infrared light, glare is not given to the driver of the automobile that is not equipped with an antiglare device. Then, it is effective to confirm safety at a long distance that what is called low beam does not reach.</p> |
