RETRIEVAL DEVICE AND METHOD USING MOVING IMAGE INDEXING DESCRIPTOR HAVING TREE STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval device using a moving image indexing descriptor having a tree structure enabling a user to quickly retrieve required moving image information. SOLUTION: When a user starts an inquiry for retrieving information, the highest key frame number of a moving image index descriptor having tree structure, inter-index edge information and the limit values of respective hierarchies which are stored in a decoder 1000 are sent to a server environment, which successively reads out key frame numbers and sends the read key frame numbers to the decoder 1000. The decoder 1000 sends a feature vector indicated by each key frame number to the server environment. The server environment compares the feature vector designated by the key frame number with an inquiry feature vector at first, compares the compared result with a limit value and user request retrieval accuracy to judge whether the key frame number read out by the server environment is related to the inquiry or not. When the key frame number is related to the inquiry, the retrieved result is continuously received from a user environment.
