Double product, caused by leaving a glass product in a mould of an IS glass container manufacturing machine, is detected by signature and statistical analysis of measured temperature profiles of containers from individual machine sections

Double molded glass product detection, by signature and statistical analysis of measured temperature profiles of containers from individual machine sections, is new. A process for detecting double products in IS glass container manufacture comprises: (a) using a heat sensor to measure the temperature profile of glass containers passing by on a conveyor belt leading from the IS machine; (b) subdividing the temperature profile into individual cycles by signature analysis; (c) determining time windows in each cycle for the containers produced in the individual sections of the machine; (d) carrying out statistical analysis over several cycles for the containers produced in the individual sections; and (e) identifying defective containers by comparing the currently measured profile value with the statistically expected profile value. An Independent claim is also included for a sensor for use in the above process.
