PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To try to make a shim plate common between disc brakes for each right wheel and each left wheel by forming the shim plate for a friction pad into a symmetric shape, and thereby reduce parts in number. SOLUTION: A friction pad 9 is pressed and moved to a disc D by means of two pistons 8 by way of a shim plate 15. In addition, the shim plate 15 is formed into a symmetry about a straight line X-X extended to the direction perpendicularly intersected with the radial direction of the disc D, and its pressure bearing board 15A is mounted to the inner circumferential side of each piston 8 by respective engaging pawls 15B. This constitution thereby enables disc brakes for each right wheel and each left wheel to commonly use one kind of the shim plate 15 only by turning over the shim plate 15 around the straight line X-X as a rotating axis, and parts, molding dies for a press and the like can be reduced in number.
